Dr. Cason Robbins is the only ophthalmologist in North Mississippi specializing in cornea, cataract, and refractive surgery. A native of New Albany, Mississippi, Dr. Robbins was raised in the Ingomar community and has deep roots in North Mississippi. After graduating from Ingomar, he moved to Clinton, Mississippi where he graduated summa cum laude with a double major in Chemistry/Medical Sciences and Biology/Medical Sciences from Mississippi College.
Dr. Robbins then moved to North Carolina to earn his medical degree from Duke University School of Medicine in 2021 after receiving a generous scholarship. While at Duke, he was elected to Alpha Omega Alpha (AOA), the top medical honors society. He also served in various leadership positions, including President of the Narrative Medicine interest group and History of Medicine interest group. He received numerous academic awards, served on the Duke Medical School Davison Council, and published over 60 scientific papers from his years of extensive research, advancing knowledge in the field of ophthalmology. Dr. Robbins has been recognized by the top medical societies in ophthalmology for his research work, including a Best Paper of Session award from the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons and Best Poster award from the American Academy of Ophthalmology national meeting.
After medical school, Dr. Robbins stayed in North Carolina to complete a residency in Ophthalmology at Duke Eye Center, one of the top residency programs in the country, where he served as chief resident. He received the Golden Apple Teaching Award all 4 years of residency for his contributions to resident and medical student education. He was also recognized with the Residency Excellence Award, a national award given to top residents by the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons. Dr. Robbins was the inaugural Editor-in-Chief for the Duke Journal of Case Reports in Ophthalmology, helping to establish a new academic journal in ophthalmology.
Dr. Robbins remained at Duke Eye Center to complete further training in one of the top Cornea, Refractive, and Cataract Surgery fellowships in the nation. While in fellowship, he received training on cutting-edge vision correction procedures to maximize patients' vision and to minimize their dependence on glasses. He returned back to Oxford, Mississippi in 2026, joining Rayner Eye Clinic to bring a high level of surgical care to North Mississippi. He is certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology with special expertise in refractive vision correction surgery.
In Oxford, Dr. Robbins specializes in the most advanced cataract surgery techniques, bringing advanced lens technology to help patients minimize their dependence on glasses. He also offers a range of refractive surgical procedures, including LASIK, PRK, and clear lens exchange. Finally, he is excited to bring specialization in Cornea to North Mississippi for the first time in many years, offering partial-thickness corneal transplants, laser corneal surgery, and expert opinion on the full range of corneal pathologies.
Dr. Robbins lives in Oxford, Mississippi with his wife Emilee and their children. Outside of medicine, he enjoys traveling, exploring food, music, and new cultures, and spending time with his family.
